Okay. i went a little crazy last night looking at pumpkin decorating ideas. Here is a (long) roundup of my faves. Hope you didn't have any other plans in the next few hours.
I found you via Virgin in the Volcano. These are simply amazing. I, too, have gone a little crazy looking for inspiration. I am not nearly as talented as the people who created these. But I found this website full of patterns: http://www.pumpkinlady.com/ (I swear, I'm not affiliated!) The pumpkins my son picked out for carving are just gigantic, and I am not sure what to do with them. I am thinking of doing something classical. Just a scary pumpkin face.
As an aside, I am a little obsessed with the religious carvings. Who would put a Jesus with a crown of thorns on a Halloween pumpkin? It's sort of amazing.
No worries– there's lots to say! i get really crazy around Halloween; i think it's because my birthday is so close to it, that as a kid it was the Most Exciting Time of the Year. Pumpkins are seriously one of my favorite things.
All of that aside, there is no way on earth that i would be able to create a pumpkin anywhere near as amazing as these. But they are certainly great inspiration! i ended up purchasing a handful of really pretty green ones that i am hesitant to even carve (d'oh).
As for the religious designs: i kind of love 'Jonah and the Whale'! The 'JC' one cracks me up, and what's going on with the footprints? Is that supposed to signify walking on [pumpkin] water? i am mystified. Also, 'Go Against the Flow'?! Is that some kind of gourd-bolstered stance against evolution? Or is the fish supposed to represent kindness in a sea of sharks (i.e. heathens)?
